WE BELONG DEAD
Solace: we'll always have the original.
"...will ad a Feminist Spin..."
Please, just fucking put a bullet in my head...
Wonder if it will be a man creating her? I agree. Pretty silly.
Dracula Untold was actually kind of entertaining. I'm looking forward (sort of) to the rest of these. I think calling these remakes is kind of misleading. They're entirely new stories based on established characters. I mean we don't need another version of Whale's Bride of Frankenstein...we already have a perfect one. So I'd rather this then an actual remake.
They should just re-title then.
Feminist spin?!?! Enter Paul Feig haha. Seriously though, going by Dracula Untold - if these movies are all going to be in the same universe I'll skip every single one of them.
So they're getting some old white guy to write this screenplay about a young female feminist protagonist, presumable produced by a bunch of old white guys, and in all probability directed by some white guy using a crew made up almost entirely of white guys.
Not sure why, but I'm not expecting much. That's not a dump on white guys mind you, just that... One should "write what they know." It's rule 1 in Screenwriting 101.
Thanks, but no thanks..I'll pass on this stupid idea.
The fact that they're skipping Frankenstein to go right into Bride of Frankenstein tells you all you need to know. Universal's hoping this is a turn key instant franchise that will rain down money from up on high.
And they've got a script by a 54 year old guy being directed by a 62 year old guy to tell the "story of a very modern woman."
"Hey, you know that thing that failed miserably and bombed for Sony? Let's do that!" - Some Universal Executive.
I don't know what looks worse, the new Mummy film or Baywatch. This is the equivalent to Breakin 2 and Mannequin 2.
Was VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN supposed to be the reboot of that entry? I have no interest in seeing any of these.
Thanks, Marvel. Now everyone thinks they need a Cinematic Universe!
No, that was distributed by 20th Century Fox and wholly unrelated to the Universal Monsters properties.
I think Universal wanted to go down this road with Van Helsing. While the film made a decent profit, the reviews pointed out that the film was pure shit and that was that. So long as they release the Invisible Man and Creature from the Black Lagoon blu-ray collections complete with Revenge of the Creature in true 3D, I'll be a happy guy.
Aw, but Baywatch looks like silly fun. I'm actually tempted to see it in theatres. Sexy women scantly dressed, over the top action, the Rock and Zac Efron (who I find entertaining a lot of the time), not to mention the beautiful Alexandra Daddario; seems like a fun enough comedy to me.
Still asking that question? That new Mummy flick looks like clown shoes, cous. The only way I'll even consider seeing that movie is if 13 members on here give it high and I mean HIGH praise. Not 8 of you.....or 12....... no..... 13 of you. LOL
IMO, there are just some things you don't F with.
Yeah, like Baywatch. 100% agreed.
I'm all for thoughtful, creative remakes. And, I'm all for interpreting male perspective stories through a feminist viewpoint.
But, didn't Penny Dreadful already tackle this whole idea and pretty well at that?
