    In 2013, Christine was a film Sony wouldn't release, themselves, on Blu-Ray. Now, it's a film that's slated to be the first pre-90's horror film with a domestic UHD release. o_O

    They sub-licensed it out to squeeze those last few drops of blood from the Blu-ray format before moving on to the next format: either UHD or streaming. I expect many other Shout/Arrow/etc releases from the majors to get similar treatment. Universal licensing out The Thing was a big signal. Universal routinely sub-licenses many other genre films of the era but never The Thing until a few years ago.

    I'm more surprised because this shows a renewed commitment to UHD when even new releases are having a difficult time in physical media and catalog titles are dropping off. Disney's entrance into UHD over the last six months is also very interesting. At this rate we may see The Thing in UHD soon.

    Besides Ghostbusters ( ;) ), I thought this statement was incorrect but shit, you're right. Kind of sad the international market has more pre'90s horror on UHD than the US.

    I’ve always thought that they were a bit rash to rush UHD into the market place. To this day I think blu ray even outsells DVD, does it? I understand the desire to push new technologies, but it isn’t as if advanced technologies aren’t shelved all of the time due to lack of profitability.

    They rushed UHD into the market place while there was still a physical media market to peddle in!

    You'd think Blu-ray would be on top, but no. It hit a brick wall at about 35% of all sales for a long time it seemed, so I haven't looked in like a year. But no, it doesn't look like it's passed 50% yet. Here's one of the latest sales reports:
    [IMG]

    There is a good thread here on DVDTalk.com that tracked the data from the HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray days up to the present. Some weeks it does better, other weeks it does even worse. But while physical sales are declining Blu-ray's percentage has remained constantly below DVD. Except for a few big weeks like when Star Wars got released on Blu I don't think it surpassed DVD. Part of the reason is that when a DVD is bundled with Blu-ray that still counts towards DVD.

    I have Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of the Dead on UHD. Was thinking about getting Suspiria but I haven't seen a comparison with Synapse's blu, so not sure if I want to go that route.

    Mad Max, The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome are standard Blu-Rays included in a box that contains a UHD of Mad Max: Fury Road. They, themselves, have not been released on UHD.

    Shows what I know, they're removed.

    Seems like today I'm seeing quite a few UHD discs hit their lowest prices I've ever seen to the 13-15 dollar range.

    Fuck I really wish there was more.

    Dawn of the dead looks awful on the 4k uhd disc imo. Allot of members claim to have Suspiria 4K. Though nobody on here has reviewed their disc. As for which version they have I dunno. There is 2 uhd versions but i'm sure the synapse release will suffice.

    I pretty sure the 4k Suspiria disc was only available through the Indigogo campaign which has now ended.

    @Dobby
    I'd love to share my thoughts on the disc but I'm still waiting for it! I'm hoping they sent a replacement already and with any luck I'll have it this week.

    It's my understanding that there's really only one Suspiria UHD, to date. The UK and Italian releases are apparently the same disc, but with a different label printed on it.

    Allegedly, 84 Entertainment will be releasing a better UHD at some unspecified point in the future for the German market.
