It's taken this long for a Brad Pitt movie to make it to DVD? Not a good sign. Hilarious cover, could be a cover to one of those trashy checkout line mags.

The priest isn't really gay. And neither is Pitt.

Only to R1. :nervous: It's been out on R2 and R4 (maybe R3 even) for years.

Were the other Regions' covers as bad?

Nope. The R4 disc that I own has the original theatrical artwork. You can view the thumbnails in my collection.

Who knows, licensed background art possibly. It certainly wouldn't be the first time it's happened... but it's better than the R2 cover:

:gay: is good, :gay: is love. Go with :gay: , Crispy. :p

The cover for the DVD is ridiculous. It looks like they're trying to sell an Urban, city, crime, high school, tough times, "I hate my parents, they don't understand me," torn apart by violence, mean streets, do a little drugs on the side, a day in the life of, depression expose, social unrest, '90s teen drama- instead of a pretty light and silly (from what I remember) '80s slasher horror film.

Now, that is gay. :D But striking and attractive all the same.

The back cover is just as bad, if not worse. If you've never seen the movie...it virtually spells out exactly who is the killer in the photos and overview.

Actually, I was talking about the two good-looking but somewhat effeminate appearing gentlemen in provocative poses ...sort of.

But you're right. Telling us the killer is a crime.

Anyone able to confirm the differences between the R-rated and unrated versions? I have the R2 "Uncut" DVD but didn't notice any diffences between that and an old VHS tape that I've had for a few years. I was not aware that this movie was missing any gore. Of course, something labled as "uncut" on R2 is sometimes the same version we've always had in the US.

Lionsgates "Unrated" release is still cut but not the UK one according to schnittberichte.com. The Lionsgate DVD only offers alternate footage instead of the gory stuff. They show pictures of what's missing from the US release if you click "in vielen Szenen harmloseres, alternatives Bildmaterial" after clicking here (for some reason its not possible to link directly).
They don't mention the R4 release, but there will be a German R2 on 12/18/09 that will include the unrated footage inserted back into the actual movie.

Just watched this and man was that some horrible acting. And Brad Pitt is so annoying.
    Wish he got killed!

Now, in reference to the above, I can't read German at all (or whatever language that is), but after looking at those screen comparisons I'm not exactly sure what they're talking about - those scenes are all there in the Lionsgate release. Maybe they're shaved off by like a second or something? Regardless it doesn't seem like anything substantial enough to go hunting down other versions. I dunno, overall not a terrible routine 80's slasher, but there's a reason why this is somewhat unheard of.

I saw this for free on VoD awhile back...
I'm not sure about an uncut version...
In reference to this movies, I welcome cuts, mutilations, etc... anything that makes this horrendous film shorter. This is seriously the lamest '80s slasher I have seen and makes "Don't Go In the Woods" look like high art.

Ya'll just didn't have the right buzz going when ya'll watched this.
A few years ago when me and the girl were new together, this came on cable after stumbling home from the bar. Changed our lives, best movie ever for 2 blithering drunks at 3am! It even changed cinemax from skinemax to "the Brad Pitt scary, stupid movie channel"!

I think it is 'better' than a few other lower budgeted slashers from the late 80s (and some crap that came in 80-85, if that's possible, hehe) but...being 'better' technically, doesn't mean it hits the ball. It's one of the most routine, dull, and as someone here said, lame slashers I've ever seen. They traded in dark for campy...only, they forgot to add the camp when they made it, and it suffered greatly. imo,

Exactly... its more technically proficient than some... a few... other, particulary poor slashers from that era. However, it really lacks... well, everything. Its not scary, campy or even fun, its just tedious.
