SIGH well there goes that dream
Fucking Echo Bridge. They're like the annoying little kid in the neighborhood who always tried so hard to fit in socially with the other kids that everyone else tried so desperately to avoid and just wish would go away.
Not unless they got the coverart wrong too: http://www.echobridgeentertainment.com/dvd/Ultimate_Horror_Collection_18334
At least MGM released a fairly solid DVD before Echo Bridge got their grimy little hands on it. So far, Hello Mary Lou has gotten the best treatment of the series.
I'd like to see quality releases of Prom Night 3 and 4.
Mary Lou's looking rough on that cover art.
Cliff from Shout Factory confirmed that MGM's rights have expired. They went back to the original owner, who also owns the first film. Which is apparently how Echo Bridge got a hold of it.
So I guess it's Goodbye Mary Lou...
I've still got the poster for this one, as well as the other Prom Night sequels:
Wow, ChrisHicks, what a legendary forum member, haven't seen his posts in forever!
I would love this to get a special edition blu-ray. It's one of the most underrated horror films of the 1980's.
I agree it's underrated.
Of the entire decade? It would have to stand in a long line for that title, behind Lair of the White Worm, Bad Taste, Just Before Dawn, Brain Damage, The Company of Wolves, I Madman, Rabid Grannies, and Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2.
I want to like Lair of the White Worm, but it doesn't get there for me.
Well, you probably remember how I feel about Re-Animator. So... can't please everyone.
Hello mary lou was far, far better than I expected.
In there with the pile of other "forgotten classics" that era produced
Prom Night II is one of those movies I really, really, really, REALLY want to love but for some reason I can't. I still enjoy it but damnit I want to love it!
Prom Night III on the other hand I adore. Does anyone know if there's a DVD of it (be it UK or whatever) that's not the edited for TV cut?
The R4 Australian DVD (released by MRA Entertainment) is definitely fully uncut. I bought it about 10-11 years ago, and it looks like it can still be purchased cheaply.
The 2008 MGM DVD of Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2 (1987) is cut?
If you didn't have me on ignore you'd know we're talking about Prom Night III.
Prom Night III is a disaster. Rack that one up as a movie I really want to love. But I can't even like it.
It's a shame it's a sequel, because it could easily be remade. And very well.
Wow. I watched this for the first time through Amazon Prime. This flick has about as many WTF? moments as any in the genre. What a bizarre mash-up--a ton of Carrie, the ending of Phantasm II, a shot stolen directly from The Evil Dead, IRONSIDE, a nude lesbian-tinged stalk scene, a keyboard electrocution, a hobby horse with a lewd tongue? Huh?
I'm not sure it's GOOD, but it's definitely not boring.
I caught this for the first time last October I believe...... I absolutely loved it. Hopefully a special edition blu ray will be a reality sooner than later.
