Dorado Films, know mostly for their obscure Spaghetti Westerns and Euro espionage/crime releases has announced what seems to be their first Blu-ray release, a double dose of Jesus Franco Gothic horrors from the 70's: A Silence of the Grave and The Sinister Eyes of Dr. Orloff. https://www.facebook.com/DoradoFilms/ These are part of a ten film package they picked up and they are apparently targeting everything for double feature Blu-ray releases: https://www.facebook.com/DoradoFilm...87496355808/10154300497980809/?type=3&theater Included are Stigma ( Estigma ) (1980) and Island of the Doomed ( Isla de la muerte, La ) (1967) aka Maneater of Hydra.
Still waiting for them to post the cover art, which was supposed to have been posted last week but has yet to drop. Still, will gladly be picking this and their future Franco titles up.
Pre-order page is up: https://doradofilms.video/ http://doradofilms.com/ A bit of a pain to order via PayPal, the address you input in the form has to be exact as it is in PayPal's system.
will these be available for sale at online stores or only on their website? I have a feud with paypal
I am definitely picking this one up, that Intervision release of Sinister Eyes of Dr. Orloff was abysmal, they encoded a 4X3 release in 16X9, not sure what they were thinking there. And the other film on the double feature I never saw. I hope this sells good so they can release more Franco on Blu Ray. Silence of the Grave is one I never saw, can't wait to see a review of this release so I can see how good the release is. I hope it's better than the release of Daughter of Dracula, I just went with the DVD of that one, I figured I'd save $7 since the picture quality was poor on it from the reviews I read, why spend $7 extra for a blu ray with poor video quality, I am all about saving money haha, just more money to spend on another movie
Good question. Dorado Films has encountered delay after delay on their Jose Ramon Larraz double feature. Their Jess Franco Volume 2 was supposed to be released immediately afterwards. The pre-orders for both releases felt like ages ago. I'm wondering if even Dorado knows when both will be released?
They were still proofing subtitles in November on the Franco Vol.2 release and the last update on it was mid-November stating it would follow next after the Larraz double-feature release - which itself was delayed and that disc order for the Larraz set was to start being processed at the replicators on November 15th (which is probably a 14 to 21-day turnaround before it's done/mailed to Dorado having dealt with replicators myself) - and then of course the last update on Dec. 7th was not about any releases but stated that Rick was again sick with the flu and there wouldn't be any updates until he returned to the office. So who knows... hopefully we have info on it this month soon and that it's coming the first or second month of the new year at the latest.
