It sucks that they're not doing an uncut print of this. Surely one exists.
Holy Shit!! About F@cking time Glad i never picked up the crappy Warner dvd-r release. Another great release for 2014
I have the UK DVD too. This is a must buy for me.
Unfortunately, it looks like Umbrella has updated this listing to indicate it will be interlaced in 1080/50i.
Fuck! They always do this :fucked:
At this rate there will probably be a superior US release with 1080p transfer and if we're lucky, uncut.
Damn, I was looking forward to getting this. Now I'll have to wait even longer for a better release.
I got the Aussie Blu-ray the other day... oddly direct from Amazon US and under $25.
It is 1080i/50, but looks pretty good if you're capable of playing that. The disc itself is a dual-layer with a healthy bit-rate.
I never got the old Aussie DVD, but there's a ton of bonus features on the Blu-ray ported over from that release. The Feature-length "Jaws on Trotters" Documentary is included, another 90+ minutes of various Interviews culled from Not Quite Hollywood, Deleted Scenes, Trailers, Stills Gallery, etc..
The Audio Track is lossless DTS HD Master 5.1, and often sounds pretty damn powerful.
I kind of doubt a US Blu-ray will be forthcoming anytime soon, since Warner still holds the rights here. A future UK or German release is certainly possible though, albeit might include the same master/transfer, so who knows.
fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me. and it looks like i've been fooled twice. i didn't notice any of the comments here and elsewhere about the interlaced issue, and the fact that this blu ray still suffers from PAL speedup. I ordered a copy of the BD and sold my Umbrella DVD, having never watched it. Only to receive it and have the same unpleasant revelation about the PAL. I suppose having it in HD is still an improvement, but all I really want is to see the movie at the correct speed. sunufabitch.
I thought there was no such thing as PAL and NTSC when it comes to blus? I swear I've read that here a few times.
Correct... there is not technically PAL or NTSC for "HD" content on a Blu-ray. But... some Blu-rays are encoded with 50hz/60hz content, and can basically be the same problem as not all BD players can handle those.
If SD material is on a BD though, it can still be either PAL or NTSC and cause problems if your player doesn't support PAL playback. That's why some people can still play the movie itself just fine on a Blu-ray, but not the extras on a disc.
*ANNOUNCEMENT* Australian monster icon RAZORBACK is coming back to Blu-ray and receiving the ultimate in HD treatment.
Special features and technical specs will be announced soon!
Nice I have the old Umbrella release which is cut so hopefully this will be uncut this time otherwise no sale
Thank fucking christ! I bought the umbrella DVD, then upgraded to the Blu only to find that it still suffered from PAL speedup. Fuck, that was annoying. I'll gladly buy this as long as it's properly encoded. Great movie.
Fuck yes! This is one of my favorite films and I was disappointed their previous release was 1080i. Now news that a 4k scan is coming is beyond awesome. As for it being uncut I wouldn't hold your breath. Only VHS footage exists from what I've heard. It would be amazing if they did manage to find the footage in print.
Just as I thought. Very nice to have the whole uncut vhs print as an extra though!
Well this is funny, I almost bought the older Umbrella Razorback last week. No joke. Glad I didn't.
Umbrella just announced a delay on the release of their Razorback Blu-ray.
"RAZORBACK will unfortunately be delayed until further notice. We understand this news may be frustrating for some, but we just want to make sure it's the best possible release, befitting of the Ozploitation classic.
Please stay tuned for more exciting Blu-Ray announcements coming over the next few days!"
Noooo! This is sad news. Hopefully it's a short delay and nothing to wprry about. I'd hate for this release to get cancelled.
