I would actually like to have seen scream shouts alternate artwork for hell night,
Why? It would've been a bunch of heads with the house in the background or something to that effect. Guaranteed.
original art work all the way. The art for Hell Night is perfect as is.
Agree 100% Even Mondo couldn't come up with better art than Linda Blair's tits hanging from that gate
Ha! Hell Night scared the SHIT out of me as a kid. My sister and I still talk about this one. It was seeming on constantly while we were growing up.
Although, we really shouldn't jump to conclusions that Don's message meant a Blu of Hell Night is coming....
SUSPIRIA RESTORATION: "Interesting observations about SUSPIRIA after two days. First, it is the most difficult project I've ever done in my career."
This will go for at least $50, imo. I may not bite on this one as I never found it to be as much fun as Demons...but I'm interested to see how far they go with it.
I fucking hope not...
If it does, I'll just wait for the standard edition like I did with Demons.
I'd pay 50 bucks. No problem. Since I don't buy anywhere near as many movies as I used to, I'd easily fork over $50 for a top-notch restoration of Suspiria (I'd also pay that for a top-notch restoration of Hell Night, but that's starting to look false). Hell, up until a couple of months ago I was paying $50 for a tank of gas for my car. And that's gone in a week.
I just don't re-buy every movie that's out there, if I have a decent copy on DVD (or even LD, if I'm not a huge fan of the movie). Demons was mentioned. I have the Arrow version of Demons 1 and 2, and I have to confess I still haven't watched either one since I bought it over a year ago. Therefore, I'd never pay $50 for the Synapse version, probably wouldn't even buy it if it was $15. You don't have to buy every horror movie that's out there. I certainly don't.
I would NOT pay $50 for Suspiria. Never. I might pay $12 / $13 like they charged for Prom Night, Curtains, and the Demons re-issues, but not any more than that.
Is it weird that I would pay $50 for Popcorn though (assuming that's the only option available)? And the Prom Night and Curtains releases are definitely worth that kind of money, although I'm glad they went with the much more affordable option. I guess I'm lucky that the releases I'm most interested in are the ones others consider lower-tier.
Me too. Why does everyone suddenly hate Suspiria? It's a top ten title for me.
I love Suspiria, but having to pay $50 for a single movie is fucking ridiculous.
agreed. the idea of shelling out $100 for Demons 1 and 2 was never even a consideration for me. they're reasonably entertaining films, but i'm more than happy with my anamorphic anchor bay dvds (which i got for $12 each when they were first released).
Suspiria is great, and if there is an appropriately lavish amount of new supplements attached to it, then i'll be willing to pay a premium (i.e. $30-35). But if the primary selling point is just a new transfer or some fancy packaging, like the demons releases, i can't see myself upgrading from my blue underground set. especially if it's in the realm of $50.
SUSPIRIA won't be $50. Don May tried the steelbook thing, charged a premium for it and caught a lot of flak - he's not going to want to go through that again. At best it'll be $29.99-34.99 for a premium edition. $35 is the most I'll pay for a copy since the film isn't a personal favorite but I'm hoping there's going to be a movie-only edition for about twenty bucks or so. I don't need an extras-packed edition for every film.
I almost paid $50 for Suspiria one time. Long before the Anchor Bay DVD came out, Suspiria was one of the more sought-out laserdiscs. Almost impossible to find. One time a copy came out on Big Emma's, an online used LD retailer, for $49.99. I spent the whole day waffling on it, finally at night I decided I was gonna do it. But by then the copy was sold. That actually worked out for me because a few weeks later I found it at a used store that priced all their LDs at $14.99.
If I was willing to pay $50 for it back then (and this is LD we're talking about, no extras), I'd certainly plunk down half a C-note on a good Blu Ray.
Phenomena and Manos news!!!:
I'm very excited for Phenomena and Tenebre. Hoping they won't be super expensive steelbooks like Demons and Demons 2 were.
I'll probably pass on Manos.
