The Gallows Act II (VOD) - After Auna Rue, a teenage vlogger/aspiring actress, logs onto a sinister website, she’s soon trapped in the malevolent world of a cursed stage play, The Gallows. After performing a passage from the play for her tiny online fan base, Auna instantly achieves the stardom she seeks—as well as a twisted challenge from a deadly spirit (The Hangman). Sequel to the 2015 theatrical Blumhouse feature. Filmed in 2016.

Rattlesnake (VOD / NETFLIX) - Katrina (Carmen Ejogo) is a single mother driving cross country to start a new life with her young daughter Clara (Apollina Pratt) when their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. As Katrina changes the tire, Clara wanders off the desert road and is bitten by a venomous rattlesnake. Desperate to save her daughter’s life, Katrina accepts the help of a mysterious woman, but after she miraculously heals Clara, Katrina is asked to repay the good deed by killing a stranger in exchange for the life saved. Without time to lose, she must wrestle with the morality of who deserves to live and who should die, before her daughter’s life is once again put in peril at sundown.

Girl On The Third Floor (VOD) - Bursting pipes, rotting walls, and unidentifiable slime were not what Don Koch expected when he convinced his wife Liz that he could rehab their new Victorian home himself. In over his head, under duress, and tempted by his old weaknesses, Don soon discovers that the house has its own dark, sordid history and won’t be so easy to renovate after all…

Zomboat! (VOD / HULU) - A Zombie apocalypse is unleashed in Birmingham and sisters Kat and Jo, together with unlikely travel companions Sunny and Amar must flee for their lives...by canal boat.

Portals (VOD / Blu-ray + DVD on December 3rd) - This genre-bending story is set around a series of worldwide blackouts — after which millions of mysterious cosmic anomalies appear everywhere across the planet. While many flee from the sentient objects, some people are drawn toward — and into — them with horrifying consequences. An anthology horror in the vein of V/H/S and Southbound.

    Prank Encounters: Season One
(VOD / NETFLIX) - Monstrous frights meet funny reveals as real people land in their own horror movie. Gaten Matarazzo ("Stranger Things") hosts this hidden camera show.

I saw somewhere that they have a Walking Dead whiskey coming out for Halloween. But I want to survive Halloween. That pumpkin moonshine I had last year was very easy and enjoyable to drink compared to a real aged whiskey.

We have officially crossed the threshold into September and the first titles from this list are releasing tomorrow!

In addition to Wal-Mart's exclusive Scooby Doo! Return To Zombie Island DVD, there are several other horror titles being released onto blu-ray/DVD tomorrow. I didn't include these, as they were previous released to theaters / VOD over the summer:

    Ma Discussion Thread
    Nightmare Cinema
    Darlin'
    Discussion Thread
The Wind: Demons Of The Prairie
    The Night Sitter

Warner will also be releasing a blu-ray collection of Scooby Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete Series tomorrow, which would be a fun set to work your way through this October.

Another title that just missed the cut is Itsy Bitsy, which was released on VOD last Friday (August 30th). That's currently available on VOD, with a disc release from Scream Factory coming October 1st.

September seems pretty well filled out, but October release dates are still trickling in. I will try to update accordingly.

I saw that poster and someone mention Itsy Bitsy and put it on my list. Hopefully it's good. Arachnophobia is still one of the best killer spider movies.

That Scooby Doo is a limited to 50,000 set. But I've seen a few reviews that assume a normal edition might come out. I don't see anything special that I need in the limited set. I saw a Scooby snack recipe in the included booklet which I screen captured. Another review mentioned some missing stuff from the previous set. Someday they will make a really good set and separate book for Scooby Doo like they have for the Batman Animated Series.

Hook, you should probably add the Shudder release and theatrical one-off of One Cut of the Dead, which is later this month.

Does it have a specific date yet? I only saw The Wraith, Hell House, and Creepshow as the announced Shudder Originals so far. They haven't announced their October line-up yet, they usually don't until near the end of the previous month.

I'll add it once there's a specific streaming date.

Worth mentioning, if you fly Delta, One Cut Of The Dead is one of their in-flight movie options!

NetFlix has unveiled their original movies and shows set to debut throughout the Halloween season. I added them to the calendar above. If you haven't checked in a while, there have been various other updates as well.

    View attachment 9684

Also, today is a pretty big genre release day if you're looking for a break between the Friday The 13th movies. Haunt, Larry Fessenden's Depraved, Riot Girls, and the NetFlix original Marianne are all available on VOD platforms. Freaks is also in limited theatrical. Unfortunately, it's a very limited release only, so I caught a matinee of Hustlers today instead.

I've been watching along with the calendar. I'm saving Mr. Mercedes for a few weeks so I can binge, and I still have a few episodes left of The I-Land. Other than that, I'm all caught up through the 12th. Planning on a double feature of Haunt and Depraved later tonight when it gets dark.

Surprised as well. From what I remember, I didn't like the original that much.

Now that the annual October viewing thread is up and running, I just wanted to remind everyone this is out there!

Lots of new stuff hitting the streaming platforms on Friday, including NetFlix's In The Tall Grass, Hulu's Halloween entry of Into The Dark, the VOD documentary Wrinkles The Clown, and kid friendly horror series Creeped Out on NetFlix and Light As A Feather on Hulu. New episode of American Horror Story tonight, and new episode of Creepshow tomorrow!

In compiling this list, I was disappointed to learn there are no new SyFy original movies this October. Instead they are doing the TV premieres of Critters Attack! and The Banana Splits Movie. However, they are re-airing last year's movies throughout the month, as well as movies from previous years. If you missed it, I would highly recommend Killer High! Some others I've enjoyed: You Might Be The Killer, Truth Or Dare, Neverknock, The Night Before Halloween, and American Horror House.

So I'm having my Movie Night this Saturday with some friends coming over. And I'm having a hard time thinking of two movies to show. I'm going with a grindhouse theme and nothing I think of is really clicking in my mind. Here's some titles I'm bouncing around:
    Blood Feast
    Gore Gore Girls, The
    Zombie ( Zombi 2 )
    Neon Maniacs
    Killer Klowns From Outer Space

Basically I want something fun and out there. But with good pacing. As you know that's a mix that's tough to find.

Part of it is that I want to do widescreen movies and a lot of the wackier grindhouse fair is 4x3. I want to do widescreen BECAUSE my Plasma has a green line running through it like a roughed up print. And 4x3 movies don't go far enough to the side to hit it. This is a bit of a send off as my Plasma has screened all my Movie Nights. So I want to "utilize" it.

For reference what I've previously shown:
    Frankenhooker
    Hausu
    Brain Damage
Mahakaal (Bollywood Nightmare on Elm Street)
    Phantom of the Paradise
    Spider-Baby
    Phantom Planet
    Wild Zero
    Re-Animator
    Creepshow
    WNUF
    Black Cat (1934)
    Gothic

    Any recommendations?

Gonna be picking up on October 22 Bloodline and Tone Deaf. Walmart will only have the DVD of bloodline no bluray in store. Tone deaf will be 14.96 for both DVD and bluray I think.
