I saw this posted on another forum:

"Umbrella understands that a few customers have had an issue with macro blocking on our release of Chuck Russell’s THE BLOB on blu-ray (DAVID CODE 3558 and 3557 - 2–disc edition. Please note this only applies to disc 1 of the 2-disc edition). The issue has now been resolved and replacement discs are now available from Umbrella Entertainment. Please forward proof of purchase and contact details to customerservice@umbrellaent.com.au to receive your replacement disc."

Sigh. Well at least I still have a proof of purchase. Funny this is my FIRST time doing a replacement program. I've been lucky until now. It was easy to do. Just forwarded my order confirmation.

    Thanks for the info Katatonia.

I sent umbrella the info for the replacement 3 days ago. I wonder if they send a confirmation they received the info, because so far I didn't get one.

Update, I received my Replacement Disc confirmation from Umbrella on 3/15. It happened to go to my spam folder on accident, which I just noticed today.

Just bought this set today. Figured I better grab it before it eventually disappears. I've never seen the 50's version so I'm looking forward to checking that out.

I've been in the mood for older horror/monster movies lately. I also ordered 20's version of The Phantom of the Opera from the UK as I've always wanted to see that and I got The Special Effects Collection coming from the US which looks to have some goodies. I also want to get a hold of Nosforatu at some stage too.

Anyway, I'll have to make sure I send an email to Umbrella about that replacement disc for this Blob set. Very cool that they are offering that!

So I sat down to watch the 50's Blob and found it difficult to watch. Firstly one of the main characters who looked to be an older man was apparently a teen which was both stupid and funny. I also found the characters to just be woffling on about nothing most of the time. I didn't stick around for the ending so I don't know if they have any entertainment saved up for the climax but I was a good hour in before I gave up and not much had happened.

The remake is much more entertaining though still not a favorite of mine.

He was 28 when he was in The Blob and it was his first movie (I dunno, I think because of that I always see him as being really young in it so in a way it works), but yeah it launched Steve McQueen’s career. You’ve never seen Bullitt or The Great Escape? I highly recommend those, they’re great films.

Man, Steve McQueen was a fucking LEGEND. He’s one of my favorite actors from old Hollywood. Died way too soon.

I've heard of those but never seen them. Guess I'll have to check them out!
