Yeah, but the keyword there is "nearly." :eek2:
Watched the Shriek Show DVD yesterday. Nice seeing this film in anamorphic widescreen but like onebyone was saying, video & audio still need a little work.
I totally forgot how amusing this film was. Lots of no talented actors, corny lines, the obligatory retarded perv janitor, hair raising plot twists, a few boobs and not that much gore actually.
Great opening with those cheerleaders strutting their stuff to cheesy 80s music though and "Helga" the evil German nurse cracked me up big time.
The rest was a mix between THE PROWLER (minus gore) with a Rambo-esque revenge kinda ending.
I recently ordered it when DDD had that 20% promotion. I had rented it before, so I knew what it looked like. After viewing it again, I do like it more...even though it is a very amatuerish production.
The coverart is indeed reversible, which is pretty cool.
Color me surprised. Looks like Germany got the unrated version on DVD. Here is a comparison between the unrated and R-Rated (Shriek Show):
Oh wow, I'd love to get a copy of that. I really enjoy this movie.
LOVE how this movie turns into Rambo during the final act. WTF!
According to schnittberichte.com Shriek Show's DVD lists the movie as unrated but it actually contains the R-Rated version. I wonder if Shriek Show was aware of this screw up.
The German DVD is on the index and because of that probably hard to track down I guess.
Amazon has a listing for a Blu-ray coming out on 10/24.
I didn't even realize that Media Blasters/Shriek Show were still alive.
Their disc for Girls Nite Out seems to still be in-print currently.
They still have a website up it looks like, but now mostly release only Anime or Japanese cinema.
I can't locate any announcement or details anywhere about The Majorettes Blu-ray anywhere however. It seems like an odd title for them to suddenly release... and I really can't imagine it selling all that well.
I will be buying that. Loved the book as well. Trashy fun.
I never read it but the used book store I grew up near always had a copy in their horror section. I remember always being tempted by the cover art - clearly the inspiration for just about every book Zebra published in the 80s.
I have just one thing to say to that:
I have no idea how they've managed to stay in business as long as they have. I have strong doubts this Blu-Ray will actually be released, at all, much less on 10/24/2016. Past history suggests it'll get delayed a bunch of times before getting cancelled altogether. I hope that's not the case, but I have zero confidence in Media Blasters.
I'm currently only seeing 3rd party listings on Amazon. There are a couple of closeout retailers with "Fulfillment by Amazon" listings, but I'm not seeing a "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com," listing.
I wouldn't doubt it either. They announced many things before, and they were continually delayed, and then eventually cancelled.
Their customer service was always crap. They never were any help when one of their discs had an authoring error and they were to blame, etc.
But, those 3rd party sellers are selling the disc for under $30 (all but 1) and 2 of the 5 listings are Prime eligible.
Diabolik lists The Majorettes Blu-ray as "In Stock." http://www.diabolikdvd.com/category/Horror-[sl]-Thriller/Majorettes-(Blu~Ray).html#
Also the Amazon price dipped to 19.99 as well. Not sure how reliable it is that they get it, but...
I went ahead and just ordered one from Diabolik. Amazon shows the delivery estimate on it as November 15th in my pre-order on there, and knowing Shriek Show it'll be delayed in the retail sector...or who knows what.
There was something else I needed to order from there anyway, so I killed two birds with one stone.
I should do the same.
