Let's go ahead and spin this off from the Universal reboot thread.

Starring: TOM CRUISE OMG and Grumpy Russell Crowe.
    Release: 06/09/17

Looks like Cruise wanted to be Indiana Jones but still go on Mission Impossible missions? I dunno.

    Hell, I'll watch it!

Tom Cruise's action films always entertain me.

I was expecting it to be set during the late 1800:s / early 1900:s.

Looks better than the Fraser ones. Cruise has a pretty good hit rate

^This. Chances are I won't see it in the theater. One of my least favorite Universal monsters.

There was a pretty long trailer for this last night during The Walking Dead. I think it looks kickass. The special effects look really good. I will definitely see this.

Glad they are going for practical stunts, sets, and explosions, instead of over the top cartoony CGI, like the Fraser trilogy.
And Tom Cruise going all "Jackie Chan" by continuing to do all the crazy stunts by himself :D

You have to give him a lot of credit for doing his own stunt work. He seems pretty involved in most of his films that way.

Yeah, the stuff he did in the latest Mission Impossible sequels, like climbing on the side of the skyscraper, and hanging on the outside of the plane, is something VERY few actors would dare to do these days. Glad someone has the balls to give us some old-school thrills back on the screen, and not just hanging in front of a greenscreen :)

This trailer is pretty much what I expected. Tom Cruise taking The Mummy as another property and making it an action franchise. Not that the last Mummy movies weren't action movies. But I can't even remember those. Except for that model that played the Queen.

I think Penny Dreadful did a better setup of these old characters. I'm sure there will be some good scenes in this new movie. Already in the trailer I see a few creepy scenes. But overall this won't be better than the slow paced original.

Too bad they couldn't give it some serious thought and not just make something that will be entertaining and profitable for the mass audience.

The Brendan Fraser Mummy films were pretty much action films as well. I actually like them. I think this is going to be much of the same. It does look good though.

Maybe I'll watch those again someday. There are so many other movies I want to see though.

I probably should not have watched this new trailer. It might have been better to not know about the plane scene and a few other clips.

Hell, I'll see it. Looks entertaining. Tom Cruise has a decent track record enough for me to give it a chance.

Looks like a fun popcorn movie :)

Expecting lots of complaints about CGI, teal colors, shakycam etc. etc. coming any second now ;)

Yeah, just not feeling this one at all. I predict a 40% or less fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. ;)

I just spoke with a friend of mine who's brother is working on the FX for The Mummy. Word is they have gone back to re-shoot parts of this film because when they put it out to test audiences, they hated the movie. Panic has set in according to my friend.

That trailer reminded me a lot of The Mummy 1999 which isn't a good thing in my books. I liked that one when I was young but couldn't bare to sit through more than half an hour of it last time I tried to watch it.
Not great to hear it didn't test well with audience either. I was looking forward to this but now I'm not so sure. There still looks to be some neat stuff in there so here's hoping it isn't bad.
