I was happy to have American Gothic, never thought that one would get a blu anytime soon. Now I am hoping Shout Factory or somebody releases a blu of Aprils Fools Day.

I'd like someone to release that too. Thanks to its quirky characters it still holds up pretty well for me. Watched a HD rip of it not long ago actually. Looked like an older master so hopefully it gets a new scan if someone gets a hold of it in the near future.

The print used for Hell Night actually looks pretty damn good, all things considered. The SD inserts do seem to have a "stutter" of sorts, though.

Thus far, I've observed issues at the following timecodes:

    00:33:11 - 00:33:23
    00:35:19 - 00:35:26
    00:52:51 - 00:53:21

Not sure if I've missed any.

I think this is a little different. The initial Hell Night snafu, allegedly, had to do with the deal with the rightsholder (Bruce Cohn Curtis, if I'm not mistaken) not being finalized when the preorder links started popping up.

My guess is this is more similar to the issue that Synapse ran into with Warner Brothers when they were trying to obtain film elements for the Creepers cut on their Phenomena release. When Scream Factory announced Piranha II, they specifically stated "No deal with Sony. We licensed directly from the overseas partners on this." I don't think Scream Factory ever actually specified what the issues regarding this release are, but given the one week turnaround from announcement to delay, there seems to be a pretty strong chance that Sony sent a cease and desist notice, claiming that they do, in fact, hold the US distribution rights.

I use to really like "Shakedown" seen it in the theater when it first came out, since I was a big peter weller fan. Last time I seen it 20 years ago, it didn't hold up as I remembered,, also didn't make the connection till the internet that glazer from THE BURNING is in it....

Not sure about this Hell Night disc. This is the best it could look?

    I have doubts.

I honestly think Shout did all they could with the available elements. They put enough work in the extras that it's hard to imagine they'd skimp on the transfer.

But yeah, it looks very "meh" compared to De Simone's The Concrete Jungle on Blu-ray...which has a great transfer in comparison.

I don't fully disagree, but this feels like a situation where Arrow announces a U.K. Only disc of it from a newly found print or something.

Anything is possible. New and better prints are always being discovered on some dusty shelf somewhere.

I can see in about 2-3 years from now, a new discovered unearthed print will become available.. and we will all feel like suckers.. I think the upcoming "house on sorority row" from scorpion looks awesome and they really did a lot of work to fix the transfer,,, so this hell night looks like lesser than dvd quality..
