I like where you went with "first time viewings of older films"........I always discover older films more than current flicks. Below are some of my favorites from 2017

    Intruder
    The Vagrant
    Cheap Thrills
    Parents
    Final Exam
    Bloody Birthday
    The Mutilator
    Sonny Boy
From a Whisper to a Scream
    Slumber Party Massacre 2 & 3

I can thank most of you for these discoveries!

I'll also mention my favorite blu releases of 2017.

    Wishmaster
    Tales from the Hood
    Silent Night Deadly Night

All 3 nothing short of beautiful

It's absolutely phenomenal and scathingly funny, while also commentating on art, society, humanity, and actually forces important discussion after the movie. Ruben Östlund's previous film Force Majeure ended up on my best of list last year too so he's quickly become a director to watch and I look forward to his next work.

For some reason I was thinking I'd seen this before, but it turns out I was thinking of a 2008 film by the same name (which is indeed quite good)

My top pick for 2017 is mother!. My wife had the same response that nearly every other person did, but I loved every second. Magnificent acting from everyone involved.

This was the only title from my most anticipated list I didn't get to check out, namely because it didn't get released in 2017.

Looks like NetFlix has acquired it off the festival circuit and will be premiering it on February 9th.
