I had a bad run in with a publicity guy at Arrow a few years back and I have trash talked their company ever since but I must admit that this is a nice little set here. The inclusion of the 4:3 version is inspired. I have a copy of Wampyr, but it is piss poor quality with no subs. I'd like to see what they've slapped together for their version of Wampyr.

i love what arrow does with cover art and the tactile extras, but their discs seem pretty light on the digital supplements, which is where the actual added value is, for me at least. shame. if you could pair their packaging with some quality supplements you'd have quite a few definitive editions on your hands.

Son of a bitch, I just bought the Italian DVD. The hell of it is that shipping for one item was set so high it was more economical to buy two with shipping. So now I have two copies.

Apparently the elements weren't up to scratch, So don't expect a decent looking transfer on the DVD. That came as a direct quote from the Arrow Forum.

Is 1:33:1 really Romero's preferred showing of the film? I mean has he actually said that or are they making an assumption? I've only ever owned the Anchor Bay disc, and that's the way I've always seen it, but obviously they matted it for the theatrical showings.

Yes it is. On the audio commentary on the Lions Gate dvd, Romero said that the matte ruined some of the scenes.

This Arrow division is new... nothing to do with the classic Arrow.

Almost all of their edition are direct ports of old ones or with better/different extras.
For me, the only exceptions were Street Trash, Blood Feast 2, The Sthendal Syndrome and Two Evil Eyes.
Sleepless and House By The Cemetery are an upgrade of the existing editions.
Macabre and Opera have different extras.
Silent Night, Deadly Night has the same extras of The Anchor Bay edition.

Of course, all of them have a booklet and a two/four sided cover for you to chose from.

OK, thanks. That's funny to hear. You'd think Lions Gate might have released it like AB did after hearing Romero's comments for their own disc! I didn't even know the commentary was new for the LG disc.

I seriously doubt anyone who had any say in the matter cared enough to listen to the commentary track, none the less take action upon what was said.

I'm a little confused fellas. I'm fairly familiar with most of the US dvd companies... is Arrow films new to the US scene? I noticed they have a city of the living dead dvd edition that is friggin' epic.

    Are they a UK outfit?

I own the AB release, but this edition is tempting as hell.

We are talking Lions Gate... The company that releases many 4:3 vhs horror gems, but when it comes with remastered transfers they simply shit on the original version.

They are Region 2 from the UK, if you have a region free player you can?t go wrong.

So, has anyone gotten this yet? I preordered it from Amazon.co.uk along with City of the Living Dead about 2 months ago. About every two weeks I get an email from Amazon pushing the date back - this is the last email I got from them:
"We regret to inform you that the following items have been delayed as we are still awaiting stock from our suppliers :

    John Amplas, et al ""
    Estimated arrival date: July 26 2010 - August 02 2010

One of Amazon's aims is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have fallen short. Please accept our sincere apologies."

I got City of the Living Dead a few weeks ago, but still no Martin. Was there a delay in the release, or does Amazon just not have it yet?

I'm holding out for the eventual (I hope) Blu-Ray version. I love the job Arrow did on Day of the Dead, and I would not hesitate to purchase any of their subsequent releases. Let us know when you receive it and what you think.

ME ME ME... it?s the ultimate DVD edition for this movie.
Some store like Amazon and HMV are a bit delayed because the stock was sent to them a little later. Don?t worry caus it?s worth the wait.
